College Study Skills
July 18 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm$185.00
While going off to college can be new and exciting, it can also be overwhelming. The environment is new. Parents aren’t there to make sure homework is getting done. The student suddenly becomes fully responsible for his or her own education. Preparing for this change, learning how to manage time, and adjusting to this new environment are key steps to succeeding in university-level courses.
Learning is hindered or facilitated by environment, state of mind, and knowledge of individual learning style. During this three hour session, students will be given a VARK Learning Assessment which will give each student a holistic understanding of how to approach studying so that they can increase quality learning and decrease quantity time. Afterward, the students will learn some style specific approaches to studying.
The following week, each student and parent will be given the opportunity to meet with the tutor in order to review a personalized study approach packet based on the workshop results.
