Forsyth County closely monitoring ongoing COVID-19 pandemic

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Forsyth County has announced various closures, cancellations, and postponements. Senior Centers and Recreation Centers will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13. These facilities are planned to reopen on Monday, March 30.

The following public events have been canceled or postponed:

  • Parks and Recreation Activities: Athletic complexes are closed, and all games are canceled or postponed.
  • Public Information Open Houses: Matt Community Park, March 16 & 17 – postponed Sawnee Mountain Preserve, March 26 – postponed
  • Keep Forsyth County Beautiful: Great FoCo Cleanup, March 21 – postponed
  • Senior Services: Senior Expo, April 18 – postponed

“Forsyth County is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy community,” said Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Chairman Laura Semanson.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to close these facilities as well as postpone or cancel specific public events with the well-being of our residents in mind. We encourage residents to follow CDC guidelines to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.”

Forsyth County is monitoring the ongoing pandemic and any updates regarding closures or postponements will be posted online at Forsythco.com/COVID-19 as well as on the county’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
