Just last month, Studio Lotus announced they were offering BeyondBarre classes at their Forsyth Avenue location. BeyondBarre is a new full-body workout that combines body sculpting, fat-burning, & endurance-building to gain muscle control, increase flexibility & develop long, lean muscles.

Last week I had the opportunity to stretch myself. In more ways than one – literally! Kim, the owner of Studio Lotus at The Avenue, invited me to her studio to participate in a Private Pilates Aparatus Session.
While, I was very excited at the opportunity I must admit I was incredibly nervous going into my session. I have a confession to make – I can’t touch my toes. Some days I can barely touch my knees! So the thought of a pilates session definitely had me scared. I even apologized in advance to both Kim and my Instructor! Both assured me that pilates was for anyone. If I had any problems, exercises would be catered to address those. So, while nervous, I was definitely eager to try it out.

Aside from walking into a beautiful studio, my instructor Adrienne, made me feel completely comfortable from the beginning. She listened to my concerns, explained the exercises and equipment very well, and most importantly made me feel successful! Me – someone attempting pilates that can’t even touch her toes!
Half way through the session I told her how much I was enjoying it! Adrienne kept me moving through a variety of exercises and apparatuses so while I felt a good workout, the hour session went by very quickly. I went back later in the week to try a Mat Pilates class and enjoyed that as well. They offer a variety of services and sessions.
