Sawnee School of Ballet, Inc., a long standing business in the Cumming/Forsyth Community, has changed ownership after 22 years. As of November 1, 2012, Courtney Palubiak Bromwich, who has been an instructor with the school for a total of 8 years, has assumed the role of owner and director of the school.
Courtney began dancing at 4 years old in St. Louis, MO and has been involved in the Atlanta dance community for over 25 years. Her strengths in ballet as well as tap, jazz, and modern have earned her several choreography awards, honors, and placements throughout the years. Having already graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.A. in Business Management, Courtney later returned to KSU to further her dance education. She was the first dance major to graduate from the program in May 2010. “Having known Joanie for over 12 years, I am honored that she has bestowed this opportunity upon me. I look forward to continuing the same spirit and core principals that have driven this well-established school for so long in addition to applying new and fresh ideas that will hopefully grow the studio and the dancers’ passion for dance.”
Joan Kall Stewart, under the title of Director Emeritus, “looks forward to many more years of teaching at Sawnee School of Ballet instructing, guiding, and encouraging young dancers to be the best they can be.” She will also continue as the Artistic Director of Sawnee Ballet Theatre, the non-profit performing company housed out of Sawnee School of Ballet.
Established in 1990 under the direction of Joan Kall Stewart, the Sawnee School of Ballet is recognized in the Cumming/Forsyth community for its standard of excellence. Sawnee Ballet students have received scholarships to Ballet Magnificat, Belhaven University, the Joffrey School of Ballet, and Brenau University. They have also been accepted in prestigious summer intensive programs as The Rock, North Carolina School of the Arts, and American Ballet Theatre.
