Campers can soon set up their campsites in Forsyth County when Shady Grove Campground opens for use on March 26. The campground will remain open until November 4, 2012.
“It is exciting to open Shady Grove Campground for campers and to officially start the 2012 camping season in Forsyth County,” said Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Kinsey. “Shady Grove Campground remains a popular destination for Lake Lanier campers.”
The 109-acre campground has more than 110 campsites for campers to enjoy. Amenities include a beach and swim area, boat ramp with courtesy dock, group campsites with picnic shelters, playground, tent camping areas and campsites with water and 30 and 50 amp power hookups.

“Shady Grove Campground continues to be a fantastic amenity for Forsyth County,” Assistant Director of Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Tommy Bruce said. “We are very proud to be able to offer such a high quality campground for our residents and visitors alike.”
This will be just the second camping season since the county made a variety of improvements at Shady Grove Campground. Projects, which were completed during the off-season prior to the 2011 camping season, included expanded camping pads for larger recreational vehicles, a grassy play area and a shoreline restoration. These improvements were made possible by the Parks, Recreation and Green Space Bond approved by voters in February 2008.
