SUMMARY:Rightfully Hers: 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment
DESCRIPTION:Visit the library to explore Rightfully Hers\, a new popup exhibition from the National Archives commemorating the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. \nRightfully Hers contains simple messages exploring the history of the ratification of the 19th amendment\, women’s voting rights before and after the 19th\, and its impact today. Despite decades of marches\, petitions\, and public debate to enshrine a woman’s right to vote in the constitution\, the 19th Amendment – while an enormous milestone – did not grant voting rights for all. The challenges of its passage reverberate to the ongoing fight for gender equity today. \nThis traveling exhibit will be on display at all Forsyth County Public Library branches: \nAugust 2 – September 1\, 2020: Post Road Library \nSeptember 5 – October 1\, 2020: Sharon Forks Library \nOctober 5 – October 31\, 2020: Hampton Park Library \nNovember 3 – November 30\, 2020: Cumming Library \nRightfully Hers is presented in part by the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission and the National Archives Foundation through the generous support of Unilever\, Pivotal Ventures\, Carl M. Freeman Foundation in honor of Virginia Allen Freeman\, AARP\, and Denise Gwyn Ferguson.

DESCRIPTION:Stop Shaving – it’s no shave November! We are combining our passions for bourbon and beards while helping to raise awareness and funds for men’s cancer awareness.  \nThe Bulleit Bourbon Wagon a/k/a Woody will be in the Green\, and our restaurants will be serving special Bulleit bourbon cocktails.  \nWe are partnering with Unique Cuts at Halcyon to present our first Beard Contest. There will be awards for best mustache\, best partial beard and best full beard with exciting prize packages for each category winner.  \nThere is no fee to attend the event\, but beard contest participants will pay a $25 entry fee. Each participant will get a $10 gift certificate from Unique Cuts plus other swag. 100% of entry fees will be donated to men’s cancer research and awareness.   \nWe will post a link for contest entry later this week.
