SUMMARY:Rightfully Hers: 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment
DESCRIPTION:Visit the library to explore Rightfully Hers\, a new popup exhibition from the National Archives commemorating the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. \nRightfully Hers contains simple messages exploring the history of the ratification of the 19th amendment\, women’s voting rights before and after the 19th\, and its impact today. Despite decades of marches\, petitions\, and public debate to enshrine a woman’s right to vote in the constitution\, the 19th Amendment – while an enormous milestone – did not grant voting rights for all. The challenges of its passage reverberate to the ongoing fight for gender equity today. \nThis traveling exhibit will be on display at all Forsyth County Public Library branches: \nAugust 2 – September 1\, 2020: Post Road Library \nSeptember 5 – October 1\, 2020: Sharon Forks Library \nOctober 5 – October 31\, 2020: Hampton Park Library \nNovember 3 – November 30\, 2020: Cumming Library \nRightfully Hers is presented in part by the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission and the National Archives Foundation through the generous support of Unilever\, Pivotal Ventures\, Carl M. DESCRIPTION:Witches Night Out at Halcyon! \nbenefitting The Place of Forsyth Home Project \nOctober 15th | 5 pm – 10 pm \nJoin us for an incredible night of fun at our Halloween Ladies Night Out! You’ll have a lot of activities to choose from throughout the property including: \nDJ and Games in the Green | Costume contest with prizes for best group and individual costumes | Scavenger hunt | Singo (no singing required! It’s musical bingo!) | Halloween-themed cocktails at our bars and restaurants | Special offers and discounts at our shops and restaurants | And lots of other treats! \nThere will be limited capacity for this event to help keep everyone safe. We will have as many activities outside as possible. On October 12th at 9 am\, we will send a link to all ticket holders with our sign-up genius. A few of the evening’s activities will have limited capacity and will require pre-registration through the sign-up genius. \n100% of proceeds for this event will benefit The Place of Forsyth Home Project. The Place is opening a home in Cumming that will provide housing for homeless female youth in Forsyth County who are aging out of foster care. Our goal is to raise $5\,000 for this project through ticket sales and donations. Please consider making an additional donation to The Place to help us reach this goal. Anyone who donates an extra $10 or more will be entered to win an incredible Halcyon basket valued at over $350 full of gifts and gift cards from Halcyon merchants!
