Dance Dawgs

2012-2013 FCHS Dance Dawgs Dance Team during training camp in July

Congratulations to the new Forsyth Central Dance Dawgs Dance Team

We are proud to announce the 2012-2013 FCHS Dance Team members: Seniors, Jessy DePhillips (Captain) and Camilla Fornes (Captain); Juniors, Corene DePhillips, Ashley Goldston, Caroline Loveless, and Olivia Pruitt; Sophomores, Isabelle Matz, Perri Neuner, and Ricki-Chandler Adams; and Freshman, Emily Ponder. Coaches are Amy Hudgins and Leah Heisler who donate their time to inspire this group of 10 dedicated dancers.

The team completed a strict and vigorous dance camp in July with excellence in all categories, adding a kickin’ new routine to their repertoire for games and competitions:

Dance camp is a very important aspect of our season. During camp, we spend time learning custom routines and perfecting technique that prepare us for our competitions. We take what the girls learn during camp and work hard to improve it throughout our season so that we compete flawlessly. This year we added a high kick routine in addition to our traditional pom and jazz routines. The girls seem to really enjoy the high energy of the kick routine with upbeat dance favorites of the 1980’s. Each routine we learned this year is a step up from last year to include more difficult steps and even a few stunts – these girls worked extremely hard at camp!  We have a great group of dancers this year that has quickly grown together as a true team. They are very encouraging to one another, and keep each other motivated. We are looking forward to this season as we are well-prepared with a wonderful group of girls and fun, exciting dances.” –Head Coach, Amy Hudgins.

The Dance Dawgs took 3rd in state in the pom category last year, and with two new additions to their team, they are working harder this year to make their award-winning status continue.

I am so excited about being a member of Dance Dawgs again this year.   Dancing at the basketball games and competitions is so much fun, and I love being involved with promoting school spirit.  I am glad to be part of such a great group of girls, and I love being a part of Central’s Dance Team.” –Caroline Loveless.
