Cumming Dance Academy, Inc. expanding by adding a new division:

CDA II Performance Academy to open Fall 2012!
Cumming Dance Academy, Inc., founded in 2003 by Niki Jernigan-Watkins, announced their new division and location expansion on March 1, 2012.  CDA, as it’s most commonly known, has led thousands of young dancers in Forsyth, Fulton, Dawson counties and surrounding areas to love the art of dance and performance.  CDA has been voted “BEST DANCE STUDIO” in Forsyth County two consecutive years in a row (2010-2011) by readers of My Forsyth Magazine publication and has been the host to Valdosta State University’s dance major auditions for the last five years.  CDA’s Company dancers most recently performed in an “AIDS Awareness” performance in Athens, Georgia raising money to promote awareness among youths in the state.  With two major theatrical productions a year, Holiday and End of Season, performers with CDA get a professional experience of what performing with a master company is like; yet all the while enjoying and having fun while performing!  CDA has a stress-free environment for performers, parents and guests. Staff members work hard to ensure everyone is comfortable and enjoying their performance experience.  From ages 3 year to Adult classes, CDA is known for their ability to entertain the audience during their highly energetic productions.   CDA is greatly involved in performing in our community and giving all who are willing a moment in the “spotlight!”  Community performances include the Cumming Christmas Parade, local assisted living facilities, entertainment at the Cumming Playhouse for the “Charlie’s Little Angels” fundraiser, Christmas in Central Park, Six Flags and many more!  With numerous young ladies passing through the doors of CDA each week, Miss Niki and her staff are thrilled to be able to offer this exciting new opportunity to the young ladies they love and adore.
CDA II Performance Academy will be a place to encourage and enhance the “Performance” aspects of each rising star.  From a recreational dancer who simply wants to learn more about performing in front of people to the serious performer who is interested in a career on the stage professionally, CDA II is the place to be!   Offering more in-depth dance technique classes as well as Vocal, Acting, Triple-Threat, Broadway Jazz, Musical Theater, Boys Tap Classes, to list a few; we are now able to reach the needs of all students – whether the student is only interested in a one hour per week class or is interested in more intense training!   With Jernigan-Watkins’ degree in Musical Theater/Dance coupled with her experience as a professional dancer, it is no surprise her students have grown to love the stage as much as she does and it is obvious she is determined to provide them the best in dance/performance education.
Located just doors down and walking distance from CDA’s main facility, CDA II will be located at 230 Elm Street, Suites 100 & 200 (formerly Newsong Community Church) in downtown Cumming, Georgia.  A new studio space of 3,100 square feet will combine with CDA’s home studio to complete their space at over 10,000 square feet of dance and performance room for the students of the community. CDA II Performance Academy, the new home for CDA’s Company and Performance Class members will be a huge studio room which doubles in size to their current technique room to ensure optimal space for performance training.   In 2009, Jernigan-Watkins completed construction on CDA’s new facility that is located at 419 Tribble Gap Road.  This will remain the hub for everything CDA!  Students at CDA and CDAII are blessed with state of the art flooring, sound systems, sibling play area, large lobbies with viewing windows and convenient restrooms.  CDA offers an in-house dancewear boutique, “Tutu’s & Tap’s” where students can get all of their dance supplies.

Niki Jernigan-Watkins, Owner/Artistic Director and CDA Student Abigail Hall

Jernigan-Watkins says her dream of opening a studio simply began with her love of dance and children.  “I am incredibly blessed to work with such an incredible group of women who not only share my love of dance, but realize that often times, we are teaching far more than dance.  Our goal for CDA has always been to encourage self-esteem and confidence by providing a loving place to grow as a dancer.  Whether a student is with us for 7 hours a week or 1 hour, we love them all the same!  Over 75% of our student base has been with us since we opened in 2003.  I think that speaks volumes for our staff and our studio.  We teach these girls, we grow with them – but most of all, we love them.”
CDA II Performance Academy is the perfect complement to what the dancers at Cumming Dance Academy, Inc. are already receiving.   For more information on Cumming Dance Academy and CDA II Performance Academy, visit them online at www.cummingdanceacademy.com and find them on Facebook for a glimpse into the eyes of CDA’s superstars.  Summer Camps are enrolling now and Fall registration opens May 1st!
