Recycle your Christmas Tree in Forsyth County

Forsyth County has recycled more than 78,000 Christmas trees since 1994

After ornaments are removed from the Christmas tree, Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB) is inviting residents to recycle their Christmas trees at numerous locations throughout Forsyth County during the “Bring One for the Chipper” Christmas tree recycling event from December 26 through January 26. A wood chipper at the locations processes the trees into mulch.

Forsyth County residents annually conclude the holiday season by recycling thousands of Christmas trees during the event. Last year alone, residents recycled 8,710 trees.

“We are very excited to see the number of trees recycled in Forsyth County increasing every year,” said Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright. “It is a win-win scenario – the program provides a convenient way for residents to dispose of their tree, and recycling the trees is good for the environment.”

On the designated dates and times, Christmas trees can be dropped off at the following locations:

Home Depot – 1000 Market Place Boulevard
Accepting trees only January 5, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Please, no trees at this site after 4 p.m. on January 5

Home Depot – 2635 Peachtree Parkway

Please, no trees at this site after 4 p.m. on January 5

Tolbert Street Recycling Convenience Center – 351 Tolbert Street
770.781.2176, open Monday – Saturday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Accepting trees December 26 through January 26

Old Atlanta Recycling Convenience Center – 3678 Old Atlanta Road
770.205.3010, open Monday – Saturday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Accepting trees December 26 through January 26

Coal Mountain Recycling Convenience Center – 3560 Settingdown Road
770.781.2071, open Monday – Saturday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Accepting trees December 26 through January 26

Please note that all three recycling convenience centers will be closed Tuesday, January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day and Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Free tree seedlings and vegetable seeds will be available while supplies last on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at all sites beginning at 9 a.m. on a first-come basis, while supplies last.

If you are interested in receiving mulch created by the Christmas tree recycling, visit www.keepgeorgiabeautiful.org and click on the chipper icon in the center of the page for more information. Wood chips will also be available for county residents near the Forsyth County Roads and Bridges facility on County Way. Interested residents are responsible for loading and hauling their own wood chips.

For more information visit www.forsythco.com or call KFCB at 770.205.4573.

“Bring One for the Chipper” started in Georgia in 1991. Forsyth County residents have been participating since 1994 and have recycled more than 78,000 trees during that time.

If you missed Blink Midwinter in the past or have not yet heard of it, it’s a synchronized Christmas Light Show set to a playlist that includes all the holiday favorites.

The show is set up, produced, organized, and everything else by neighbors and residents of 7020 Cole Court in Cumming, GA 30028 – located in the Glenbrooke Subdivision.

If you wish to express your appreciation for the show, donations will be accepted on behalf of the Canine Assistants.
