Have you heard of this great resource right here in Cumming?
What is it?
The Cumming Harvest was founded earlier this year by the Suzanne Geddes & Lynn Pugh (Cane Creek Farm). It’s based on a small group of farmers – in and around Cumming, GA – that all grow their harvest using strict standards and producing everything without chemicals! It is similar to a CSA or Co-Op, but also very different. With most typical CSAs you are delivered a basket each week of a variety of foods – a lot of which you (definitely me) have never even heard of much less eaten!! The difference with The Cumming Harvest is that YOU – the buyer – get to pre-order your basket each week! That means you only order & receive what your family wants to eat, yet you still get the great benefits of local, chemical free food!!
How does it work?
Each Tuesday evening, you’ll receive a list of available produce and goods. Customers place their orders via the online shopping cart by 8:00pm each Thursday. And on Saturday morning, your order is available for pick up at the North Georgia Autism Center on Hwy 9 (near Exit 17) during specified hours.
How much does it cost?
There is a $25 Annual Membership fee per household to cover certain expenses involved, but everything else is just dependent on how much you order. The prices on their online shopping cart are very clear & easy to understand.
What can you purchase?
Meats, Fruits, Vegetables, Eggs, Baked Goods, and more!
Want to give it a try?
You can! This Saturday, December 11th from 9am to 12noon you can shop their Open Market! Stop by, see what The Cumming Harvest is all about, meet the growers & see what they have available! Open Market will be held at the North Georgia Autism Center – 1575 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming 30040.
Doesn’t that sound great? This is a new to me service, but I am very excited to try it out for our family!
If you want to learn more, check out their website or Facebook Page for information. And if you visit The Market, be sure to tell them you heard about them from Cumming Local!
