Paint & Paper Recyle Day

Recycle Paint & Paper on November 13

South Forsyth Middle School Teachers, Parents & Students Volunteer

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA –  South Forsyth Middle School teachers, parents and students will be volunteering their time and efforts at a community paint and paper recycling event on Sunday, November 13, at Harry’s Farmers Market in Roswell from 3pm to 6pm, in celebration of America Recycles Day.  Reaping Nature Educational Outreach Foundation, a Forsyth County non-profit organization, is organizing the event, which doubles as a fundraiser for the organization’s environmental education programs for children.

It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to get real world experience with environmentally friendly activities,” said Kristen Deuschle, a sixth grade science teacher at SFMS.

Paints collected at the event will be recycled for repurposing by Williams Paint Recycling.  The fee for paint recycling is $15 for up to 10 cans per customer (minimum charge $15).  For each additional can, the fee is $2 per can.  Household products only accepted.  NO commercial customers.  Latex and oil-based paint must be in their original containers and sealed.  Containers without lids or leaking, aerosol cans, solvents and hazardous waste will not be accepted.

Paper will also be safely and securely shredded on-site at this event by ShredGreen.  The fee for paper recycling is $4 per box.

Reaping Nature’s recycling event this spring yielded 1,950 gallons of paint and one ton of paper.  Paint cannot be disposed of curbside or at the landfill in its liquid form.  Every ton of paper recycled saves more than 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space.

Winners of Reaping Nature’s America Recycles Day contest, Healthy Choices = Healthy You & Planet, will also be announced at the event.  Many 6th graders at SFMS have entered the contest.
